A native of Thomson, Georgia, Brooks McCommons began his career in development after graduating from Shorter College in 1996 with a degree in public relations. Brooks began his fundraising career at Shorter College where he served for ten years in several leadership roles including director of development and interim vice president for institutional advancement.
In 2006, Brooks was hired to establish a comprehensive development program for Open Door Children's Home in Northwest Georgia. With a desire to return to higher education fundraising, Brooks joined The University of Georgia as Regional Development Director in April 2008. Brooks has been an active member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, serving on the district steering committee since 1997. Brooks and his wife Chris have three children.
