How ‘Bout Them Rams? – Working with Albany State’s advancement team

Albany State's Advancement Team
by Jill Walton

We talk a lot about collaboration and how it can improve our work in Development & Alumni Relations (shout out to the always wonderful Collaboration Station!), but there is also much to be gained from collaboration that extends beyond the Classic City.

That’s why we were so excited to host colleagues from Albany State University’s Division of Institutional Advancement on Wednesday, April 28! Kelly Kerner, Jeremy Ransom, Stacy Stanford, Tony Stringer, Meredith Gurley Johnson, Jason Bull, Executive Vice-Chairman of the UGA Foundation Board of Trustees Neal Quirk and myself sat down with

  • A.L. Fleming, Vice President for Institutional Advancement
  • Joslyn DiPasalegne, Alumni Relations Coordinator
  • Janet Puckett, Community and Alumni Engagement
  • and Stan Brown, Finance and Administration Officer for the ASU Foundation.

It was fascinating to get their outside perspective of our team and the work we do and enlightening to hear about fundraising and alumni engagement from an HBCU’s perspective. In our conversation, we shared best practices, learned from one another, and brainstormed about opportunities to partner in the future.

Our group walked away from this meeting hopeful that, through these new connections, we can continue to collaborate with the ASU team to positively impact students and communities in south Georgia and throughout our state.
